Murdale Water District was created by an order of the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Illinois on May 31st, 1956. The District purchases finished water from Kinkaid Lake located in the Northwestern portion of the county. The District serves over 1970 residents and businesses in 6 Townships in Southern Jackson County through 3 pump stations, utilizing 4 water towers feeding a distribution grid over 110 miles of water main piping.

The sole purpose of the District is to provide safe potable water to its residents residing within its service area, operating under the laws of the State of Illinois and the regulations of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

The main source of operational funding is derived from the sale of water, based upon rates set by the District’s Board of Trustees, collected monthly by the District’s personnel.
